Death notice for James R. Campbell

James Campbell, longtime writer of OPA's The Capitol Spotlight and The Capitol Report, passed away last Saturday. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 at 1:30 p.m. at First Unitarian Church, 600 NW 13th Street, in Oklahoma City.
James ‘Jim’ Ronald Campbell, a longtime Oklahoma journalist, died November 24, 2018. He was 86.
Campbell graduated from the University of Oklahoma, where he was editor of the OU Daily, and then started his professional career at the Bartlesville Examiner.  After a stint in the US Army, he was hired by the United Press International, where he worked for 30 years, serving as state editor for Arkansas, Oklahoma, and finally Michigan.
He was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame in 1991, and served as president of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, two-time president of the Oklahoma City Press Club, and president of the Oklahoma City Gridiron Club.  He was also a long-time director, performer, and writer of the annual Gridiron Show.
For many years, Campbell wrote Capitol Spotlight and Capitol Report for the Oklahoma Press Association.  
He is survived by his three daughters, Donica Stephenson, Pam Gray, and Jenifer Cook; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
