Job Description:  The McAlester News-Capital along with The Ada News is seeking an energetic newspaper professional, with a proven track record, to lead its audience and distribution team.
The McAlester News-Capital is a five-day newspaper with a circulation of 4,700 daily and 5,200 on Sunday. In addition to the newspaper, we publish a quarterly magazine, a weekly TMC product, niche publications and a website, www.mcalesternews.com. The Ada News is a five-day newspaper with a circulation of 5,200 daily and 6,100 on Sunday. In addition, there is a quarterly lifestyle magazine and a weekly shopper, and a website www.theadanews.com.
The director manages all aspects of marketing and distribution, including home delivery, single copy, digital subscriptions, niche products, and sales and retention for the daily newspaper.
Our director is an integral member of the McAlester News-Capital/Ada News senior leadership team, with a voice in strategic initiatives. Candidates must be results-oriented, possess a creative approach to audience development and have an unwavering commitment to customer service. This individual must demonstrate a positive style of leadership, set benchmarks and build our coverage.
Candidates should have at least three years of audience development and sales experience, as well as an understanding of contractor relationships. The director must be familiar with the latest AAM guidelines, formally known as ABC, and have a working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
This position requires use of a personal vehicle, so an acceptable driving record and current driver’s license are required. Pre-employment criminal background and credit checks are also required.
Located in Pittsburg and Pontotoc Counties, McAlester and Ada are located in the southeastern part of Oklahoma.
