Services scheduled for Jack Stone

Delmer Durwood 'Jack' Stone, longtime editor of The Anadarko Daily News, died July 16, 2011, in Anadarko. He was 73.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, in First Baptist Church of Anadarko. Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Stone earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee in 1959. He began his career in journalism as an intern in the advertising department at The Anadarko Daily News. After graduating from OBU, he returned to the Daily News before going to the Tulsa Tribune, where he covered the police beat. He worked there for seven months before returning to Anadarko, where he worked for 38 years at the Daily News. He retired as executive editor in 1996.
Stone was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame in 2010. He won the Oklahoma Press Association’s Beachy Musselman Award in 1973.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Debbie Stone of Catoosa, and Greg and Teresa Stone of Anadarko; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Scott Wilson of Stillwater; four granddaughters; and two brothers.
