Tahlequah Daily Press/CNHI
The TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS, an award-winning small newspaper in the beautiful Ozark foothills of Northeastern Oklahoma, is seeking a staff writer to join our experienced news team in mid-August. Surveys have listed Tahlequah as one of the best places in the country to live, with our river and lakes and breath-taking landscapes; our array of recreational and artistic venues; and our eclectic population. We're home to the Cherokee Nation and Northeastern State University, the fourth-largest university in the state. This year, we won sweepstakes in our circulation division of the OPA contest, and first place in general excellence in the AP contest, so TDP is a great place to start a media career, or to perfect your talents in an established one. The successful candidate will be an aggressive team player who is punctual, deadline-oriented, and has a taste for investigative reporting. Must be able to write crisp, lively copy in all venues – feature, news and enterprise. Must know how to use a camera and produce eye-catching photos. Familiarity with Mac computers preferred; page design experience helpful. Newspaper experience and/or a degree in journalism required. Salary commensurate with experience and skill set; good benefits package.
